This is a collection of other Web sites that I consider worth seeing. You might like some of them, or you might conclude that these sites, my site, and the entire Internet are utterly devoid of value.
I also have
mirrors of a few sites that are no more.
Media Tracking
These sites are useful for researching and keeping track of things that you might want to see/hear/read or for logging and reviewing media that you've consumed.
Goodreads
Keep track of books you've read and maybe discover new ones. My profile is
here.
Last.fm
Tracks what you listen to automatically and compiles statistics. My profile is
here.
Letterboxd
A good site for tracking movies you have watched or want to watch. My profile is
here.
Music
Bandcamp
Where I get most of the music I listen to these days. Hopefully not ruined by the time you're reading this, after changing hands a couple times. My profile is
here.
OverClocked ReMix
A huge collection of video game music arrangements. Many of them are excellent.
Comics
These are a few of my favorite Web comics that are still available as of this writing.
Exploding Dog
Sam Brown draws pictures based on captions that people send him.
Married to the Sea
A comic by a married couple that includes the creator of
Toothpaste for Dinner.
Board Games
BoardGameGeek
An excellent resource for information about tabletop games. There's also a corresponding site for
video games.
Board Game Arena
Play board games online with friends or strangers. The interface for most games is very good and they have a wide selection.
Video Games
Good Old Games
Old computer games re-released for modern computers, with extras. (Some new games, too.)
Humble Bundle
Pay what you want for collections of (mostly independent) games, usually including Steam keys.
itch.io
The best place I know of to find homebrew video games.
Steam
A video game downloader that grew into a monster. Watch for the seasonal sales.
Warp Door
A Web log started by Tim W. and Chris Priestman, heroes of the obscure indie game scene.
Zophar's Domain
A good resource for information about computer and console emulators, and for ripped video game music files.
Personal Web Pages
These are nearly extinct now that everyone has unfortunately moved to social media, but there are still some out there. Here are a few that I find inspiring.
Skytopia
Daniel White's unique and elaborate personal site.
Other
Bog Leech
A site that runneth over with fun content.
Kiva
Microfinancing that anyone can take part in. A friend and I created
a team there.
PostSecret
Still updated weekly, as of this writing.
Superbad
A fascinating project that defies description and changes often.
